Cutting or clipping the foil to size

First, measure the window with the tape measure/ruler, then cut the film to size. We recommend cutting the window film 5 millimeters narrower than your measured length.

Clean and degrease the window

The window must be thoroughly cleaned and degreased. This can be done simply with warm water and a drop of dish soap. A thorough cleaning prevents dirt and dust particles from getting between the window and the film. Remove any blemishes from the glass with a window scraper.

Stick foil wet

Fill a spray bottle with water and add a little dish soap. First, thoroughly spray the window with the spray bottle; this will allow the film to shift during application.

Partially remove the protective layer

Peel off about 10 centimeters of the backing (this can be paper or transparent foil) from the foil. This is easily done by placing a piece of tape on both the foil and the backing and then peeling it off. Also, thoroughly moisten the foil with a plant sprayer.

Applying window film to a window

Start in a corner and work your way out. Make sure the film is flush against the window. Applying window film is a simple but precise job. We therefore recommend two people. Then thoroughly spray the window with the applied film with a plant sprayer.

Wipe away excess water

Once the window film is applied to your liking, remove any excess water between the window and the film. Using a squeegee and a tea towel, firmly smooth the film from the center outward. Then you're done, and you can enjoy your beautifully applied film!

Wipe away excess water

Once the window film is applied to your liking, remove any excess water between the window and the film. Use the squeegee (to prevent scratching) to smooth the film from the center outward.

Frequently Asked Questions

I applied my window film to the window using water, but now white spots are appearing in the film. What should I do?

The white spots are damp patches. Remove as much of the water as possible with a squeegee. Any remaining spots will disappear on their own once the water evaporates.

Help, my window film is full of creases and bubbles, what now?

Window film should be applied with plenty of water. Creases and bubbles will occur if insufficient water is used or if the application is not done properly.

Can I reuse window film?

No, window film cannot be reused. The film tends to stretch and tear when removed.

Can I also stick the foil without water?

No, that is not possible, because you cannot remove bubbles between the glass and the film.

Homewell accepts no liability for any damage suffered as a result of using our adhesive film and/or window film.
